Jay Schottenstein, CEO of American Eagle, is once again putting his luxurious Key Biscayne penthouse on the market, aiming to take advantage of favorable conditions in the South Florida real estate scene. The property, first listed roughly a year ago, has been withdrawn twice since its initial debut in late November 2024.
Currently, the penthouse is being offered through Julian Johnston of Corcoran, after its most recent removal from the market in July. Despite the relistings, the asking price remains at $33.9 million, suggesting Schottenstein is hoping for a rise in demand for high-end waterfront residences during the winter months.
The penthouse was formed by merging two separate units over a five-year renovation, resulting in a 13,630-square-foot home designed with the help of Geoffrey Bradfield. The residence features an airy, coastal-inspired aesthetic with curated art and nearly 100 feet of direct beachfront views.
Inside, wood-paneled ceilings accentuate the living areas, while marble walls and brick columns create a sense of separation and privacy. The formal dining room accommodates up to 18 guests, complemented by a family room with an adjacent casual bar area ideal for entertaining and enjoying the ocean vistas.
Each of the four bedrooms comes with its own bathroom, while two additional powder rooms showcase intricate designs, including a mosaic seascape and textured gold details. Other amenities include a stately office, expansive closets, and about 3,000 square feet of terrace space, some of which is outfitted with fitness equipment for those who enjoy working out with a view. The property also offers five parking spaces and five private storage cages.
Schottenstein, a member of one of Ohios wealthiest families, leads a portfolio of retail brands including American Eagle, Aerie, and Todd Snyder. He has served as CEO since 2014, having previously held the role from 1992 to 2002. In addition to his Key Biscayne residence, he owns multiple properties in the Miami area and a mansion in his hometown of Columbus, Ohio.
