College's student mechanics utilizing impounded vehicles

Police-seized cars are being repurposed to give aspiring mechanics valuable practical experience. Cumbria Police have donated six cars to Carlisle College and plan to provide another six to students at Furness College in Barrow.

Approximately 100 students have already had the opportunity to work on these vehicles, enhancing both their technical skills and confidence. Jack Stabler from the police roads policing unit commented, "It was fantastic to observe the students applying their skills and gaining real-world experience with the cars."

Financial support from the countys fire and crime commissioner, David Allen, covered the transportation of the vehicles to the college. Allen noted, "This initiative allows future mechanics and vehicle technicians to learn in a hands-on environment while also helping the college reduce costs."
