Crayola Product Recalled at Michaels, Amazon Over 'Serious Injury Or Death' Risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall for a Crayola product, warning that it contains small magnetic pieces that could pose a swallowing danger for children.

According to the CPSC's announcement on Thursday, the recall involves CreateOns Crayola-branded pip-cubes, which are being pulled from shelves due to a risk of serious injury or death from magnet ingestion.

Health Risks Linked to the Recalled Cubes

The recall affects over 9,000 magnetic building cube sets. The magnets can detach if the cube seams separate, creating a risk of ingestion. The CPSC explained that if multiple magnets are swallowed, they can attract each other or other metal objects inside the digestive tract, potentially causing blockages, infections, or even fatal complications.

How to Recognize the Recalled Products

The pip-cube sets were sold between May and July at Michaels retail locations across several states, as well as online at Michaels.com and Amazon.com. The recall includes:

• Bold Colors packs: red, green, blue, and yellow cubes
• Glitter packs: purple, pink, blue, and green cubes

Each cube is marked with the Crayola logo on the left side. The model and UPC numbers are printed on the bottom of the packaging. Prices ranged from $20 to $35.

Consumer Guidance

Customers are advised to immediately stop using the recalled pip-cubes and keep them away from children. Those who purchased the sets can contact CreateOn to receive replacements. The company has confirmed that it is cooperating fully with the CPSC and has taken steps to notify consumers, update its website with recall instructions, and remove affected products from retail shelves.
