Hundreds of Santas participate in a charity bike ride for children's hospice

Hundreds of motorcyclists dressed as Santa Claus journeyed across two counties to raise funds for a children's hospice. The annual event, known as Santas On A Bike, benefits Little Harbour children's hospice in St Austell, Cornwall, part of Children's Hospice South West.

The festive convoy began in Ivybridge, Devon, and passed through towns including Saltash, Liskeard, Lostwithiel, Par, and Charlestown in Cornwall before reaching their destination at Little Harbour.

Kevin Moorey, one of the event coordinators, described the experience: "Riding alongside more than 200 fellow Santas, seeing supporters lining the streets, and collecting vital donations is one of the most inspiring moments of the holiday season."

He noted that the number of participants is never certain until the day itself, but every year the turnout seems to grow. In 2023, over 400 Santas joined the ride, while the 2024 event was postponed due to severe weather warnings.

The procession of red-clad bikers was warmly received along the route. "People along the streets are extremely supportive, with pavements full of cheering well-wishers," Moorey added. "The joy on the children's faces is truly unforgettable."
