International Powers Focus on AI Partnerships in the Gulf

The United States and Japan are actively engaging Gulf nations as competition in artificial intelligence intensifies worldwide. The United Arab Emirates has been named one of eight nations invited to the Pax Silica summit at the White House on December 12. The event will also host representatives from Israel, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, as part of Washingtons strategy to strengthen its AI supply chain and counter Chinas dominance in critical minerals and semiconductor production.

Saudi Arabia, however, was not included in the summit invitation, despite recently agreeing with the US to establish a rare earth processing facility within the kingdom. Japan is also pursuing cooperation with Gulf states to lessen its reliance on Chinese minerals. At this weeks Future Investment Initiative meeting in Tokyo, Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi emphasized that Japan will accelerate efforts to build supply chain partnerships with nations including Saudi Arabia.
