Jon Stewart points out the childish nature of Trump's latest excuses

Jon Stewart on Thursday criticized Donald Trumps claims of being a law and order president after granting a pardon to former Honduran leader Juan Orlando Hernndez, who had been convicted of aiding the trafficking of 400 tons of cocaine into the United States.

During the latest episode of The Weekly Show podcast, producer Gillian Spear pointed out that Trump told a reporter on Sunday he didnt recognize the name when asked about pardoning a notorious drug trafficker.

Honestly, he acts like a 6-year-old. Anytime hes confronted, he either says I dont know or calls someone stupid, Stewart said. Ive raised kids I know these tactics well.

Stewart noted that Trump relied on the same I dont know line when questioned about Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and the ongoing controversy surrounding a botched boat strike carried out under his administration.

They ask him about the double-tap strike and he goes, I dont know, its not my thing. And you think, Youre the commander-in-chief! Stewart said.

He went on to criticize Trump for using presidential clemency to release someone involved in trafficking enormous quantities of cocaine.

Trump, while ordering drone attacks in the name of the drug war, just pardoned someone responsible for a mountain of coke. You cant top a mountain, Stewart joked. Now the next trafficker will need an entire mountain range. At this point, bribery is legal. State-backed drug smuggling is legal.
