Paramount has named Louis Carr as the new president of BET, succeeding Scott Mills after his 23-year leadership, according to a company announcement. The announcement, made on December 3the same day Mills confirmed his exitmarks the continuation of Carrs 39-year journey with the network.

Throughout his career, Carr has been instrumental in reshaping multicultural advertising, connecting BET with global brands and solidifying its position as a premier platform for Black audiences worldwide. Reflecting on his new role, Carr stated, BET and its commitment to Black and Brown communities has been my lifes work. Its a privilege to lead the brand to the next level of excellence and impact.

A key figure behind BETs commercial success, Carr has driven billions in advertising revenue and forged strategic partnerships with companies including Procter & Gamble, Walmart, Unilever, McDonalds, Meta, and Toyota, directing their focus toward diverse audiences. His leadership spans linear, digital, and social media, helping to create BETs leading consumer insights database on Black audiences. Carrs data-driven approach has influenced content, campaigns, and brand strategies aimed at both performance and cultural relevance.

In his new position as president, Carr will continue to build on his longstanding contributions at BET and report directly to George Cheeks, Chair of TV Media at Paramount. Cheeks commented, Louis leadership has been integral to BETs success for nearly four decades. His vision for the future will drive innovation, deepen BETs cultural impact, and position the brand for continued growth.

Scott Mills, who oversaw BET Media Groupincluding BET cable network, BET+, and BET Studiosreleased a statement on his departure, highlighting the networks achievements during his tenure.
