Maurice DuBois is departing from ‘CBS Evening News’

Maurice DuBois, the anchor of CBS Evening News, announced on Thursday that he will be leaving the network on December 18. His departure comes less than a year after he started co-anchoring the program alongside John Dickerson.

In an Instagram post, DuBois reflected on his tenure, stating, It has been the honor of a lifetime. What a privilege to enter your homes night after night, sharing the news, meeting remarkable individuals, and telling their stories. I depart with immense gratitude, treasured connections, and unforgettable memories.

With DuBois leaving, CBS flagship evening broadcast will be without a permanent anchor as the new year approaches. Dickerson had already announced his exit in October, preceding a wave of layoffs at the network.

DuBois has had a long-standing career with CBS, including years at the networks New York affiliate. His work has included moderating high-profile events such as the 2021 New York mayoral debate. While he has not disclosed his next steps, his exit coincides with significant shifts at CBS, including Bari Weiss taking over the newsroom and Paramounts merger with Skydance.

Tom Cibrowski, president and executive editor of CBS News, commended DuBois contributions. Maurice has consistently exemplified the best of CBS News and Stations. For over two decades, he has delivered major stories from both our New York studios and the field, Cibrowski said.

Cibrowski added that the network is grateful for DuBois work and acknowledged his respect within the industry. Maurice is highly valued as a journalist, and we wish him continued success. I hope our paths cross again. More information about the future of CBS Evening News will be shared soon, he concluded.
