Maurice DuBois to Depart CBS News as Bari Weiss Plans Evening News Revamp

Maurice DuBois, co-anchor of CBS Evening News, is set to depart from CBS News later this month as the network prepares a significant reshuffle under the direction of newly-appointed editor-in-chief Bari Weiss and CBS News president Tom Cibrowski. DuBois shared the announcement on Instagram, revealing that his final broadcast as anchor will air on December 18.

Having spent over twenty years at CBS, primarily at the flagship New York station WCBS, DuBois reflected on his tenure: It has been the honor of a lifetime. 21 years altogether, including my time at WCBS-TV in New York City. What a privilege to be welcomed into your homes night after night, delivering the news, meeting extraordinary people, and sharing their stories. Ill leave with gratitude, lasting relationships, and wonderful memories. Just a couple of weeks left; see you on The CBS Evening News every night at 6:30.

DuBois departure follows a similar announcement from his co-anchor John Dickerson, who revealed his upcoming exit in October. Both journalists had joined the evening broadcast earlier this year in an effort to revitalize the program, which has consistently trailed behind ABCs World News and NBCs Nightly News.

Cibrowski praised DuBois contribution, stating, Maurice has long represented the best of CBS News and Stations. For more than two decades, he has reported the days most important stories both from our New York studios and in the field. We are grateful for his outstanding work at CBS News New York and on the CBS Evening News. Maurice is highly respected as a journalist, and we wish him great success. We look forward to sharing updates on the next chapter of CBS Evening News soon.
