Mike Lindell, the entrepreneur behind MyPillow and a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump, has officially filed paperwork to run for governor of Minnesota. A new committee, named "Mike Lindell for Governor", has registered with the states Campaign Finance Board, allowing him to begin fundraising for the election.

Despite the filing, Lindell admitted he is not entirely certain about his candidacy, stating he will make a formal announcement on December 11. Should he move forward and secure the Republican nomination, he would challenge the current governor, Democrat Tim Walz, who is seeking a third term in 2026.

The Republican primary already features several contenders, including Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth and businessman Kendall Qualls. Lindell, however, expressed confidence in his chances, telling the Minnesota Star Tribune, If there was someone to win, it would be me.

After achieving success with his company, MyPillow, Lindell became widely known for his staunch support of Trump and his vocal promotion of claims regarding the 2020 election. He has participated in numerous campaign events alongside Trump and has spoken at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Additionally, Trump frequently shares Lindell's posts on the platform Truth Social.

Lindell's entry into the governor race marks a notable moment in Minnesota politics, given his national profile and alignment with MAGA politics.

Analysis: Mike Lindell’s Bid for Minnesota Governor - A New Chapter in State Politics

Mike Lindell, the CEO of MyPillow and a prominent supporter of former President Donald Trump, has officially filed to run for governor of Minnesota. While he has established a political presence due to his vocal endorsement of Trump and controversial views on the 2020 election, his gubernatorial candidacy brings a new dynamic to the state’s political landscape. Lindell’s decision to form a campaign committee and begin fundraising sets the stage for what could be a contentious Republican primary.

However, Lindell’s uncertainty regarding his candidacy, with a final decision expected by December 11, raises questions about his commitment. This ambiguity could affect the Republican primary, where other high-profile candidates like Minnesota House Speaker Lisa Demuth and businessman Kendall Qualls are already campaigning. Lindell’s confidence in his ability to secure the Republican nomination, claiming that "If there was someone to win, it would be me," reflects his belief in his national profile and appeal to conservative voters.

Should Lindell choose to run and win the nomination, he would face Democratic Governor Tim Walz, who is seeking a third term. Walz’s solid track record and centrist stance might present a significant challenge for Lindell, especially given his controversial reputation. However, Lindell's alignment with MAGA politics and his direct connection to Trump’s base may resonate with certain segments of the electorate, influencing the outcome of the race.

In conclusion, Lindell's gubernatorial campaign adds an intriguing element to the 2026 race. While the outcome is uncertain, his entry signals the potential for more polarized and contentious political battles in Minnesota, as the state grapples with the influence of national conservative movements at the local level.
