Parkway Drive Expresses Pain Over Park Waves Cancellation

Parkway Drive have finally addressed the unexpected cancellation of their first-ever Park Waves Festival in Australia, sharing a heartfelt statement that reveals how deeply the decision has affected them.

This is a message we never thought wed have to write, and it sits heavily with us, the band said. Park Waves Australia has been cancelled. Simply putting this into words feels devastating yet another festival halted due to escalating costs in the entertainment industry. It hurts to be counted among the casualties in this chapter of Australias music scene.

The touring festival, which was set to feature Parkway Drive alongside The Amity Affliction, Northlane, Alpha Wolf, and Story Of The Year across 11 cities under a massive circus-style big top, was officially called off this week by promoters Destroy All Lines, citing financial difficulties and stating that the numbers no longer stack up.

Parkway Drive confirmed that they had fought relentlessly to keep the festival alive. We explored every avenue to make this dream a reality, the band explained. But the circumstances made it impossible to continue.

In their statement, the band also thanked fans who had already purchased tickets and supported the festival concept from the beginning. To everyone who bought tickets, and to those who continue to champion live music in Australia: thank you. Your support is what keeps this culture strong, even in the toughest times.

All Park Waves tickets will be fully refunded, with ticket holders contacted directly via email. The cancellation represents another significant setback for Australias festival scene and for Parkway Drive, who envisioned Park Waves as a unique, homegrown festival experience after launching the concept in Germany last year.

Despite the disappointment, both fans and organisers remain united, highlighting the fragile state of touring and live music events in Australia today.
