Ryder System has revealed a significant change in its leadership team. CEO Robert Sanchez will step down at the end of the first quarter, passing leadership to COO John Diez. After his retirement, Sanchez will take on the role of executive chairman.
Robert has successfully guided Ryders growth strategy, mitigating risks while enhancing returns and expanding our supply chain and dedicated services, transforming the companys financial profile, stated Michael Hilton, lead independent board director.
Sanchez has served in multiple senior roles over his 30-year career at Ryder. He became CEO in January 2013 and assumed the board chair position in May of the same year. Under his leadership, Ryders annual revenue grew to $12.6 billion, and net earnings surged 133% to $489 million, according to full-year 2024 results.
Working with an incredibly talented team has been a privilege, Sanchez commented. I have known John for more than 20 years, and his in-depth knowledge, judgment, and strategic vision make him the right person to lead Ryder forward. I am confident in his ability to continue our growth trajectory.
As COO and president, Diez manages operations across Ryders three divisions: Fleet Management Solutions, Supply Chain Solutions, and Dedicated Transportation Solutions. A Ryder veteran since 2002, he has held roles including CFO and other senior positions. Diez has also been appointed to Ryders board of directors.
Johns appointment as CEO is part of a carefully planned transition, Hilton noted. His extensive experience, understanding of our customers, and long tenure at Ryder position him exceptionally well to lead the company.
Diez added, Roberts leadership has set the stage for continued growth as supply chain challenges evolve and demand for our port-to-door services rises. I am eager to work alongside Robert, the board, and the entire Ryder team to harness our companys full potential.
