Trump gives green light to miniature vehicles of the imminent future

President Trump announced on Friday that he has authorized the manufacture of tiny cars within the United States, aiming to broaden the presence of compact vehicles that are already popular in Asian markets.

Ive officially approved the production of TINY CARS in America. Car makers have wanted to do this for a long time, just as these vehicles thrive in other countries, Trump wrote on Truth Social. They can run on gasoline, electricity, or hybrid systems. These next-generation cars are affordable, safe, fuel-efficient, and, simply put, INCREDIBLE! START PRODUCING THEM NOW!

Earlier in the week, Trump expressed his appreciation for Kei cars, a type of small automobile widely used in Japan and other parts of Asia, designed for lower costs and narrower streets. They have a very compact car, kind of like the old Volkswagen Beetle. Theyre tiny, really charming. I asked, Could this work here? and many think it could, but until now, production wasnt allowed, he said on Wednesday.

Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy mentioned to CNBC that these small cars would likely be ideal for city driving and could offer a more affordable option for certain buyers.

In addition, Trump revealed plans to propose easing vehicle fuel efficiency requirements that were established during the Biden administration. The Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards currently dictate the minimum miles per gallon automakers must achieve for their fleets.
