Ohio Woman Admits to Overdosing 4 Men She Met for Sex, Dubbed as 'Serial Killer'

On December 19, 2025, Rebecca Auborn, a 36-year-old woman from Columbus, Ohio, pleaded guilty to four charges of murder and one charge of felonious assault, the Ohio Attorney General's Office confirmed. The plea was officially entered in Franklin County Common Pleas Court on the same day.

Background of the Case

Auborn was indicted in October 2023 in connection with a series of overdoses and robberies targeting men in northeast Columbus. These incidents occurred between January and June of 2023. One of the victims, who survived an attempted overdose in December 2022, was able to link Auborn to a string of prior attacks. Investigations revealed that Auborn had arranged meetings with the victims for sexual encounters, during which she intentionally administered drugs with the aim of robbing them.

The Central Ohio Human Trafficking Task Force, operating under the Ohio Organized Crime Investigations Commission, played a crucial role in connecting Auborn to these crimes.

Identified Victims

The following individuals were identified as victims of Auborn's actions:

  • Wayne Akin, 64
  • Robert Snoke, 54
  • Joseph Crumpler, 30
  • Guy Renda Jr., 42

Family members of the victims have expressed relief that the case is approaching resolution. A relative of Wayne Akin stated, Ive spent two years preparing for the worst, and now its almost over. The grieving process can finally begin.

Legal Proceedings and Future Sentencing

Auborn is set to be sentenced on February 20, 2026. She is facing a prison sentence ranging from 69 years to life, according to reports from NBC News. The case is being prosecuted by the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office, with investigative support provided by the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the Columbus Police Division.

Official Statements

Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost commented on the case, emphasizing the strength of the investigation and the overwhelming evidence presented. He stated, An overwhelming amount of convincing evidence and an airtight investigation conducted by BCI and Columbus Police left no doubt that a conviction was forthcoming. When law enforcement works together, theres hope for families to secure justice. Yost also referred to Auborn as a serial killer, noting that the crimes, while spread over time, were consistent in method and intent. He remarked, When you have a series of killings separated in time, with a consistent modus operandi, that qualifies under common definitions of serial murder. Pick your definition, and it fits, or it doesnt.

Case Significance

This case underscores the critical importance of coordinated law enforcement efforts in tackling complex crimes involving targeted violence, particularly those involving sexual encounters and drug-facilitated assaults. The case also serves as a reminder of the need for continuous vigilance in identifying and addressing such dangerous patterns of behavior.
