Assist Us in Giving Directly

Its easy to focus on the negative aspects of the world and feel overwhelmed by everything that seems wrong. And often, we do just that. But on this Giving Tuesday, we have a chance to take action that creates a direct, meaningful impact.

Many of us are receiving messages asking for our support, and while there are countless causes worth considering, one organization stands out: GiveDirectly. Their mission is simple yet powerful: they provide cash directly to some of the worlds poorest individuals. Over the past year, they have distributed nearly $119 million to over 143,000 people living in extreme poverty across developing countries.

This year, we, alongside other Substack supporters, are helping raise funds for GiveDirectly because we believe it is one of the most effective ways to create tangible change in peoples lives. If you are able, we encourage you to contribute today.

We often spend time discussing politics, policy, messaging, and the state of democracy. These topics matter deeply. Yet, during this season, its worth stepping back and asking ourselves how we can support those who are most in need. How can we make a difference for individuals where even a modest donation can transform lives? And how can we ensure that the aid reaches those who need it most?

This consideration is especially urgent given the current crisis in U.S. foreign aid. Recent decisions by leaders have drastically reduced support to developing nations, threatening millions of lives. At a time when government assistance falls short, our contributions can help counteract these consequences.

The Bulwark community has a history of stepping up in critical momentshelping Afghan translators at risk from the Taliban, assisting migrants facing deportation, and supporting patients in need of urgent care. This Giving Tuesday, we ask you to extend that same generosity to some of the poorest people worldwide through GiveDirectly. Your support will create an immediate, meaningful difference in someones life, even if you never meet them.

From our family at The Bulwark to yours, thank you for making a real impact.
