Thailand-based hotel operator Centara Hotels & Resorts has announced significant progress in all aspects of its environmental, social, and governance (ESG) programs. The company reaffirmed its dedication to sustainable tourism and responsible practices within the Thai hospitality industry.
As part of its long-term commitment, Centara introduced the C-E-N-T-A-R-A Sustainability Blueprint, a strategic framework targeting seven critical areas essential for sustainable development. This blueprint guides future projects while emphasizing environmental management as a central element of Centaras operations.
The company highlighted that its business model is grounded in Thai hospitality, innovation, core values, and environmental consciousness. Centara continues to enhance its sustainability framework to deliver measurable benefits for guests, local communities, and the natural environment.
Since 2009, Centara has implemented environmental management programs as a cornerstone of its ESG approach. CEO Thirayuth Chirathivat commented: "Business growth must align with responsibility to society, the environment, and our communities. Achieving GSTC certification across all our properties and making strong strides in waste and emissions reduction reflects our long-term environmental commitment. We remain focused on innovating and advancing ESG initiatives to create meaningful, lasting impact while offering sustainable travel experiences for future generations."
Over 16 years, Centara has achieved several sustainability milestones, including eliminating single-use plastics in guest areas and securing GSTC certification for all 42 properties worldwide. The company has also set a goal to reduce emissions intensity by 40% by 2029, working toward its broader target of achieving net zero emissions by 2050.
