Alec and Hilaria Baldwin List Hamptons Mansion for $21 Million After Previously Stating They 'Never Want to Leave' Home

Alec and Hilaria Baldwin have put their sprawling Hamptons property back on the market for the fourth time, just months after expressing their desire to stay there indefinitely, citing their childrens attachment to the home. The couple, who also own a luxurious New York City apartment, listed their five-bedroom Amagansett residence on December 3 with a price of $21 million. This represents an increase from the previous $18.99 million listing, though it is still well below the original $29 million asking price from 2022. Alec Baldwin originally purchased the estate in 1995 for $1.75 million.

In 2021, the Baldwins planned renovations on the beachfront home where they spend summers and holidays with their growing family. Those plans were abandoned in September 2022 when the couple first listed the house for $29 million, later reducing the price to $24.9 million. Over the next two years, the property frequently cycled on and off the market. In January 2024, they accepted an offer but quickly reversed their decision to sell.

In a candid interview with The New York Times in August, the couple explained that the initial decision to sell was motivated by a desire to split their time between their New York apartment, a 55-acre Vermont estate, and summer stays in Europe. However, they admitted they struggled to leave the Hamptons property due to the childrens love for it. We keep coming back here because the kids are very happy, Alec said. They love it here. When I ask them if we should sell, they go crazy. Its a kids home that I never want to leave.

Now, just three months later, the Baldwins have listed the 8.28-acre estate with Scott Bradley of Saunders & Associates. Real estate experts warn that finding a buyer could be challenging. Jenny Lenz, managing director of Dolly Lenz Real Estate, notes the propertys location is not considered prime for most buyers, as it is north of the highway and away from the main East Hampton and Southampton areas. Additionally, she called the home itself dated and in need of updates, which could deter buyers seeking modern or newly renovated homes.

Lenz also mentioned that the celebrity association could be a double-edged sword. Despite the general premium for A-list properties, Alec Baldwins past controversiesincluding the 2021 on-set shooting on the movie "Rust"and active participation in marketing the home may add an ick factor for some prospective buyers.

The listing notes that the estate includes plans for expansion, with potential additions including two extra bedrooms, a formal dining room, a sunroom, and a large screened porch. The property also has an upgraded septic system approved for up to 10 bedrooms and the rare opportunity to build a guest house in Amagansett.

The listing emphasizes the outdoor lifestyle, highlighting endless reserve views, horseback riding facilities, a vegetable garden, and proximity to Balsam Farm and the Amagansett trail system. Private access to nature, equestrian opportunities, ocean beaches, and village amenities combine to present the property as a quintessential Hamptons retreat for generations.
