Season 2 Storyline

The new season picks up ten months after the first season finale. Showrunner R. Scott Gemmill indicated that the story will span a day-long shift over Fourth of July weekend, featuring a variety of emergency room cases. The focus will remain on character-driven storytelling rather than trying to outdo the previous season.

Wyle revealed that Dr. Robinavitch will confront his mental health challenges, a continuation of his struggle following the death of his mentor during the pandemic. Gemmill noted that the series aims to normalize mental health care for healthcare professionals. Dr. Frank Langdons journey toward sobriety will also be explored as part of the time jump between seasons.

Created by R. Scott Gemmill and produced by John Wells, the series is a joint production of John Wells Productions and Warner Bros. Television. Shawn Hatosy is set to direct an episode in Season 2, with Amanda Marsalis also serving as director and executive producer.
