Bethenny Frankel is Emotional After Jason Hoppy Divorce: ‘I Lost Hair’

Bethenny Frankel, known for her time on The Real Housewives of New York and for founding the Skinnygirl brand, has reflected on the intense challenges she faced during her marriage and eventual split from Jason Hoppy. Although viewers witnessed tension on screen, the most severe struggles occurred behind the scenes, lingering long after she stepped away from reality television.

During a recent Call Her Daddy episode with Alex Cooper, Bethenny revealed how revisiting her divorce resurfaced deeply buried emotions. She admitted that the experience was far more difficult than any hardship from her childhood. Nothing compares to the ten years of turmoil during my divorce, she stated.

She described her mothers challenges as minor in comparison to the trauma of a partner intent on causing pain while publicly portraying her as the aggressor and Jason as the victim. The prolonged stress took a visible toll, with Bethenny sharing, It was so traumatic. Ten years of my life. I lost hair. She confessed moments of despair, saying, I thought I would never survive it. Her daughter, Bryn Hoppy, became a source of strength, giving her the drive to keep going. I literally thought, Ill never be happy again, she admitted.

Bethenny and Jason married in 2010, separated in 2012, and did not finalize their divorce until 2021. She described navigating the ordeal like a marathon, taking it one mile at a time. The conflict involved accusations of fraud, theft, hacking, harassment, and obsessive online scrutiny. In 2017, Jason faced arrest over alleged harassment and stalking related to emails and confrontations at Bryns school, charges he denied.

Bethenny revealed that she spent millions of dollars in legal fees and was repeatedly told by attorneys that they had never seen anything like it. She emphasized the importance of therapy in her household and made a point to teach Bryn about resilience, sharing lessons from her own difficult childhood. She also advised parents never to speak negatively about the other parent, calling it the worst thing you could do.

The Real Housewives of New York is available for streaming on Peacock.
