Billy Ray Cyrus Reacts Positively to Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando Engagement: 'Thrilled to See You Both So Happy'

Billy Ray Cyrus expressed his joy over the engagement of his daughter Miley Cyrus and musician Maxx Morando. On Wednesday, December 3, the "Achy Breaky Heart" singer posted a heartfelt message on Instagram congratulating the couple.

"No wonder you turned out so special You have the greatest Godmother in the world!!! @dollyparton So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!!" the 64-year-old wrote. He added, "Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!! Love, Dad ."

The Instagram post included several photos: a nostalgic snapshot of Dolly Parton, Miley, and Billy Ray smiling together; a red carpet picture of Miley with Morando; and an image of the couple embracing at a restaurant.

A source confirmed to PEOPLE on Tuesday, December 2, that the "Walk of Fame" singer, 33, is engaged to 27-year-old Morando. Page Six was the first outlet to report the news. The engagement was revealed just a day after Miley attended the world premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles, where she was seen wearing a diamond ring on her left hand.

According to Deux Moi, Miley was first spotted wearing the ring in mid-November, including during her birthday dinner later that month. Miley and Morando were first linked romantically in December 2021 when they were photographed backstage at Cyrus NBC holiday special, Miley's New Year's Eve Party in Miami. By April 2022, their relationship appeared confirmed when they were seen kissing in West Hollywood.

In a June 2023 cover interview with British Vogue, Miley described how they first met: "We got put on a blind date," she explained. "Well, it was blind for me and not really for him," she added, jokingly. "I thought, 'The worst that can happen is I leave.'"
