Billy Ray Cyrus Sends a Message to Miley Following Years of Family Drama and Her Engagement

Billy Ray Cyrus has shared his heartfelt congratulations to his daughter Miley Cyrus following her engagement to Maxx Morando. The couple, who have been dating for four years, confirmed their engagement on Tuesday, December 2.

The Achy Breaky Heart singer took to Instagram on Wednesday, December 3, posting a carousel of images, including a nostalgic photo of himself and Miley with Dolly Parton. In the caption, he wrote, No wonder you turned out so special You have the greatest Godmother in the world!!! @dollyparton. So happy you and MaxxAgazillion found each other!!!! Congratulations! Happy to see you both so happy!!! Love Dad.

Alongside the throwback, Billy Ray shared two snapshots of Miley and her fianc, one of which was taken at Mondays premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash, where Mileys engagement ring was prominently visible.

This public celebration comes after Miley released her song Secrets in September, which she described as a peace offering for her father. Their relationship had reportedly been strained following Billy Rays divorce from Tish Cyrus in 2022 and his engagement to singer Firerose four months later.

When sharing a clip of the songs music video on Instagram, Miley explained, This song was written as a peace offering for someone I had lost for a time but always loved. In my experience, forgiveness and freedom are one and the same. She further discussed the track during a CBS Sunday Morning interview, revealing that it was a gift for her fathers birthday. She shared, My dad cried, which, you know Everyone I say that to, they go, I remember when my dad cried. You dont see your dad cry often. When you remember that, whether its happy tears or painful tears I dont think Ive seen my dad cry since his father passed away.

Miley added, I think they were mixed emotions, because there are things that, for us me and my dad we just kind of moved forward. We didnt feel there needed to be a long conversation because he and I communicate better through song.
