Boston Blue, one of the breakout hits of fall 2025, has officially been renewed for a second season by CBS. The announcement came on Wednesday, December 3, alongside the renewal of another Friday drama, Sheriff Country, a spinoff of Fire Country.
The series follows Danny Reagan, portrayed by Donnie Wahlberg from Blue Bloods, and his son Sean Reagan (Mika Amonsen) as they start a new chapter in Boston. They quickly form a bond with the citys influential law enforcement family, the Silvers, with Danny partnering with Detective Lena Silver (Sonequa Martin-Green).
So far, six episodes of Boston Blue have aired, confirming its strong reception and prompting CBS to extend the show. These two Friday night series have quickly captured audiences, with viewers embracing Boston Blue and Sheriff Country across both broadcast and streaming, said Amy Reisenbach, President of CBS Entertainment. The early renewals highlight the appeal of character-driven stories, engaging plots, and the exceptional talent both in front of and behind the camera.

Additionally, Marisa Ramirez has guest-starred as Detective Maria Baez in three episodes, and Bridget Moynahan reprised her role as Erin Reagan-Boyle in the premiere.
