Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers to work on a new nightclub comedy project for Searchlight

Entertainers Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers, widely recognized for co-hosting the Las Culturistas podcast, are collaborating on a new comedy project for Searchlight Pictures. The untitled film will be written by and star the duo, drawing inspiration from the multi-part podcast episode Why Didnt Chris and Dan Get Into Berghain? from Search Engine. The story follows two Americans traveling to Berlin in a humorous quest to gain entry to Berghain, one of the worlds most exclusive nightclubs.

Producers Olivia Gerke and Oly Obst will oversee the project through 3 Arts Entertainment, with PJ Vogt and Sruthi Pinnamaneni serving as co-producers. At Searchlight, VP of Production Richard Ruiz and Creative Executive Daniel Yu are managing the development of the film.

Yang and Rogers previously partnered with Searchlight on Fire Island, a queer romantic comedy adaptation of Pride and Prejudice created by Joel Kim Booster, which premiered on Hulu in 2022. Their podcast Las Culturistas has earned the iHeart Radio Podcast of the Year award twice and has even led to its own awards show, which aired on Bravo and has been renewed for 2026.

Bowen Yang, a five-time Emmy nominee for Saturday Night Live, is currently featured in Universals Wicked: For Good and lends his voice to Warner Bros. upcoming adaptation of The Cat in the Hat, slated for release in November 2026. Earlier this year, he reunited with Fire Island director Andrew Ahn for the project The Wedding Banquet. Matt Rogers most recently appeared in Lionsgates comedy Good Fortune and the latest season of Apple TV+s Palm Royale.

Representation for Yang and Rogers is provided by UTA, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Schreck Rose Dapello, while Vogt and Pinnamaneni are represented by UTA and Jackoway Austen. The agreement for the new comedy was arranged by UTA.
