Chef Gordon Ramsay has handpicked 12 of the nations finest bakers to face off in Next Level Baker, a festive three-week holiday spin-off of Next Level Chef, premiering Thursday, December 4, on Fox. Holidays are all about gathering together, and nothing brings people closer than tasty food and a touch of friendly rivalry, Ramsay shares. Its going to be fun, festive, and truly next level.
Joining Ramsay as mentors and judges are Carla Hall, known from Food Networks Holiday Baking Championship, and Candace Nelson, co-founder of Sprinkles Cupcakes. Unlike the main series, this edition does not feature a team draft. The challenges are real, but what excites me most is mentoring, Hall says. Being in the kitchens and getting hands-on was my favorite part. I absolutely loved it.
The shows three-story kitchen has been transformed into a magical winter setting, complete with carolers, ice skaters, a ukulele player, and a childrens choir to enhance the holiday spirit. The set is far bigger than I imagined, Hall says. Seeing it for the first time left me speechless. It truly felt like a holiday gift.
Contestants hail from across the country, from New York to California, competing for a $25,000 prize and a prestigious HexClad cookware package. In the opening episode, bakers are challenged to create winter treats that evoke nostalgic memories. After an elimination round, they move on to crafting boozy holiday party desserts.
This series goes beyond traditional Christmas cookies and eggnog. During the Platform Grab challenge, bakers are asked to use specific ingredients to recreate holiday sweets and pastries from various cultures. Were pushing them to explore different cultures and flavors, Hall explains. They need to think about the right spices and techniques to truly bring international desserts to life.
Next Level Baker premieres Thursday, December 4, at 9/8c on Fox.
