Caroline Kennedy stands by son Jack as daughter Tatiana shares heartbreaking cancer diagnosis

Caroline Kennedy is offering her unwavering support to her son Jack Schlossberg during an exceptionally challenging period for their family. The 68-year-old daughter of the late U.S. president John F. Kennedy attended Jacks inaugural campaign event as he seeks to represent New Yorks 12th Congressional District.

Video footage shared on Jacks Instagram Story shows the mother of three watching proudly as her 32-year-old son spoke passionately about fostering a new wave of belief in our country. The former U.S. ambassador to Japan was visibly present, showing solidarity with her son.

This public appearance comes just days after her daughter Tatiana Schlossberg disclosed in a November 22 essay for The New Yorker that she had been diagnosed with a terminal form of acute myeloid leukemia. Tatiana first noticed something was wrong shortly after giving birth on May 25, 2024. Following a series of medical tests, the 35-year-old received the official cancer diagnosis.

Amid this family crisis, Jack a Democratic Party member officially announced his congressional campaign on November 11. Im not running because I have all the answers to our problems, he wrote on Instagram. Im running because the people of New York 12 do. I want to listen to your struggles, hear your stories, amplify your voice, go to Washington and act on your behalf.

Despite the family focusing on political matters, Tatiana emphasized in her essay how much support she has received from her immediate family. My parents and my brother and sister have been caring for my children and staying with me in hospital rooms almost daily for the past year and a half, she shared. They have held my hand without hesitation, concealing their own pain to protect me. This has been an incredible gift, even though I feel their sorrow every day.

Reflecting on her lifelong role as a devoted daughter and sister, Tatiana added, I have always tried to be good, to protect my mother, and never cause her distress. Now, I have brought a new tragedy into our family, and there is nothing I can do to prevent it.
