Charlie Cox's Experience of Wearing New Daredevil Suit for the First Time After 'Earning' Double Ds (Exclusive)

Charlie Cox is stepping into a new era of Daredevil. During the red carpet event for his latest film Merv, co-starring Zooey Deschanel, the 42-year-old actor spoke to TooFab about putting on the revamped Daredevil suit, now complete with the iconic "DD" emblem on the chest, for the upcoming season.

"It felt earned," Cox revealed. "Id been asked about it for over a decade by fans, so wearing it now felt very special. I was honored and gratefulit just felt really cool."

The British actor is widely recognized for his role as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in the Netflix series. With the shows revival as Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ earlier this year, fans were excited to hear that Krysten Ritter would return as Jessica Jones for Season 2.

"Reuniting with Krysten was fantastic," Cox said. "Shes hilarious, and sharing the screen with her again was a real thrill. I didnt expect it to happen, so I was overjoyed when I heard the news."

While he expressed excitement about their reunion, Cox confirmed he couldnt reveal anything about their interactions in upcoming episodes.

From Action Hero to Rom-Com Co-Star

In Merv, Cox transitions from high-octane stunts to romantic comedy. He plays Russ, a man navigating co-parenting his dog Merv with his ex-girlfriend Anna, portrayed by Deschanel. The pair discover changes in Merv's behavior after their breakup and embark on a vacation together to help their pet.

"Gus, who plays Merv, is incredible," Cox said as the dog performed tricks on the red carpet. "We didnt showcase all of that in the filmI had no idea he could do so much."

Cox praised Guss acting ability. "The role required him to show a lot of sadness, and he did it remarkably well. I actually learned a lot about acting from him."

New Inspiration from On-Set Pups

Discussing the film Good Boy and its campaign to get dogs recognized by the Academy, Cox confidently suggested that Gus could rival the contenders for Best Dog Actor. Working with Gus also inspired him personally: he got in touch with a breeder and adopted a Border Terrier, naming her Quinn. "Shes a very happy dog and has even taken a bit of my spot in bed," he shared.

Merv will premiere on Prime Video on December 10, 2025.
