Chris Brown has reached a historic milestone, surpassing a record previously held by the legendary Michael Jackson. With the rise of streaming platformsa factor that wasnt prominent during Jackson's erathe 36-year-old singer has now earned a distinguished title in music history.

Reports confirm that Brown, known for hits like "Beautiful People," is officially recognized as the best-selling Black male vocalist in RIAA history, overtaking the long-standing record set by the iconic "Thriller" artist.

On December 1, the RIAA announced several new certifications for Brown's work, including:

  • 4x Platinum - "Yo (Excuse Me Miss)" (Single) and Chris Brown (Album)
  • Gold - "Ya Man Aint Me" (Single) and "Aint No Way" (Single)

This achievement comes shortly after Brown concluded his XX Breezy Bowl stadium tour, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album.

In the United States, Brown ranks third among all male vocalists in total sales, following Elvis Presley with 189.5 million and Luke Combs with 163.5 million. Browns American sales have reached approximately 163 million records, while Jackson's stand at around 158.5 million.

Globally, Michael Jackson still holds the top position, with over 1 billion records sold worldwide, maintaining his status as the highest-selling music artist in history.

Browns recent streak of accomplishments includes being the first artist to sell out Nationals Park for three consecutive nights in October and topping the Billboard Top Tours chart during the summer, marking his highest-grossing tour to date.
