Despite the backlash, I still loved Meghan Markle's holiday special - here's why

When With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration premiered on Netflix, the response from critics was far from glowing. Reviews criticized it for seeming insincere, overly frenetic, and recycling old footage. Some even described it as a bit chaotic and slightly sad. My 11-year-old daughter watched a portion and bluntly said, This girl is annoying, which, for the tween demographic, is practically a rite of passage in judgment.

To the critics, I say: its all in good fun. I tuned in immediatelynot only because I cover the royals and have been following this special since Augustbut also because Im generally supportive of the Sussexes and, as someone who doesnt even celebrate Christmas, I still enjoy festive, cheerful programming. Sure, there were awkward segments. Naomi Osaka seemed low-energy, leaving Meghan to carry much of the enthusiasm.
