François Arnaud from Heated Rivalry Explains Scott's Big Scene in Episode 3

Franois Arnaud has shared insights into his characters emotional journey in Heated Rivalry Episode 3, which left viewers deeply moved. Arnaud portrays Scott Hunter, the captain of the New York Admirals, and recently discussed the events that unfolded in the latest installment of the series.

The actor emphasized the contrast between Scott and Kip, which ultimately led to their separation. He described Scotts struggle in Episode 3 as truly heart-wrenching, noting that the characters choice to conceal his sexuality created an unavoidable divide between him and Kip, despite their genuine feelings for each other.

In the first part of the episode, Scott feels emotionally open to this relationship, thinking he can manage everything without consequence. Hes caught up in his own emotions and doesnt realize the impact on Kip until Elena, Kips best friend, points out how unhappy its making him, Arnaud explained. Scott believes he can maintain a double life temporarily, without recognizing the emotional toll on Kip.

In Episode 3, Scott forms a relationship with Kip, an employee at a local smoothie shop. Their connection grows quickly, and they decide to move in together. Yet, Scotts hesitation to reveal his true self forces a painful breakup. His commitment to his hockey team also contributes to the growing distance between them.

Arnaud reflected on the breakup scene, calling it particularly poignant: The hardest part is that Scott wants to be ready for love, but he knows he isnt. He has to let go of the person he loves because its the right thing to do, even though he truly cares for him.

The 40-year-old actor further elaborated on Scotts mindset: Hes devoted so much of his life to hockey, which has given him a lot in return. Coming out isnt something he feels capable of doing yet, but the struggle leaves him miserable.

Heated Rivalry is available for streaming on HBO Max.
