Exciting news has emerged regarding the highly anticipated return of HBOs comedy series, The Comeback. Fans now have more clarity on the upcoming seasons launch window and the addition of a prominent actor to the ensemble.

Season 3 Scheduled for March 2026

HBO has confirmed that the third and final season of The Comeback will debut in March 2026. The announcement was made by HBO Max CEO Casey Bloys at the 2026 Content Showcase in London. An exact premiere date has not yet been provided.

Created by Lisa Kudrow and Michael Patrick King, the show first aired in June 2005, with its second season releasing in late 2014. The story centers on Kudrows character, Valerie Cherish, a former 1990s sitcom star striving to revive her career through both reality and scripted television. According to the creators, in Season 3, Valerie has successfully re-entered the modern TV landscape, a return that feels natural given her journey.

Andrew Scott Joins the Cast

Andrew Scott, known for his role as a villain in Sherlock, will appear in the upcoming season. HBO confirmed his casting alongside the season announcement. Details regarding his character have not yet been revealed.

Scott will join returning cast members Dan Bucatinsky, Zane Phillips, Damian Young, Brittany OGrady, Laura Silverman, and Julian Stern. This marks Scotts first collaboration with HBO. He is currently competing in the Oscar race for his portrayal of Richard Rodgers in Blue Moon and has earned Emmy nominations for Black Mirror and Ripley.

The series is executive produced by Michael Patrick King, Lisa Kudrow, John Melfi, and Dan Bucatinsky. HBO has shared an initial image featuring Kudrow reprising her role as Valerie Cherish, offering fans a glimpse of whats to come in the final season.
