Gayle King Finally Responds to CBS Mornings Exit Speculations

Following CBS's announcement that Tony Dokoupil will transition to CBS Evening News in January, Gayle King commented on potential changes to the morning show schedule. However, she did not connect these shifts to her own future at CBS Mornings.

A spokesperson for CBS News previously told USA TODAY that there have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026, emphasizing that King remains a truly valued part of CBS.

King also addressed the discrepancy between public speculation and internal communications. Im not going to negotiate in the press, but I hear one thing in the building and one side outside of the building. Ill be reading an article and going, Thats not true, she explained, expressing her confusion over conflicting messages.

Despite the rumors, King emphasized that she enjoys her work and has no alternative plans at the moment. I dont go in hypotheticals, she said, adding that she trusts everything works out the way its supposed to. For the foreseeable future, she will continue appearing on CBS Mornings.
