Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Lopez Commemorate "a Genuine Feeling of Togetherness" at THR Women in Entertainment Event

The Hollywood Reporters annual Women in Entertainment gathering, supported by Lifetime, returned on Wednesday to honor influential women shaping Hollywood both on and off screen. This year, the event coincided with the release of THRs annual Women in Entertainment Power 100.

Gwyneth Paltrow received the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award, recognizing her trailblazing contributions to the industry. Jennifer Lopez was celebrated with the Equity in Entertainment Award for her efforts amplifying underrepresented voices in entertainment.

The morning program, held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, began with Rachel Sennott bringing humor to the audience. Jimmy Kimmel introduced a keynote by his wife, Molly McNearney, focusing on free speech and the importance of speaking out against challenges to expression. McNearney praised the audience for standing up for truth and justice, while also lightheartedly acknowledging Lopez in the crowd.

THR executives, including editor-in-chief Maer Roshan and EVP Lori OConnor, delivered welcome remarks. Special tributes were made to the late Diane Keaton, with Goldie Hawn and Sarah Paulson sharing heartfelt memories and celebrating her enduring impact on Hollywood and life.

Kerry Washington presented Lopez with her award, noting her cultural influence and barrier-breaking achievements. Lopez reflected on her early career struggles as a Puerto Rican woman from the Bronx, emphasizing the importance of passing opportunities forward and promoting equity in entertainment.

The event also spotlighted THRs mentorship program, pairing high school girls from underserved Los Angeles communities with top female executives. Graduating mentees received scholarships and technology awards, while incoming participants were gifted MacBooks. Full-ride scholarships from the Chuck Lorre Family Foundation were awarded to three students, totaling over $1 million.

The highlight of the gala was Robert Downey Jr. presenting Paltrow with the Sherry Lansing Award. He playfully referenced her Marvel Cinematic Universe history while praising her career achievements, entrepreneurial ventures, and personal resilience. Paltrow credited all-girls schooling with teaching her to admire strong, expressive, and fearless women, and shared how she has continually defined her identity through challenges and triumphs. She expressed gratitude for the sense of community that welcomed her in all her phases.

The celebration included appearances by notable figures such as Brad Falchuk, Olivia Munn, Selma Blair, Rhea Seehorn, Rachel Zoe, Gabourey Sidibe, Mamie Gummer, Andie MacDowell, Lake Bell, Nikki Glaser, Mckenna Grace, Leanne Morgan, Katherine LaNasa, and Justine Lupe. Sponsors for the event included Delta Air Lines, Medicube, Reyka Vodka, and Seven Bucks Productions, in partnership with organizations like Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Los Angeles, Entertainment Industry Foundation, Gersh, Chapman University, and Loyola Marymount University.
