Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson revealed with a smile that working together on Song Sung Blue made them feel like a genuine married couple. In the upcoming biographical musical drama, Jackman portrays Mike, while Hudson takes on the role of Claire Sardina. Both actors perform as part of the Neil Diamond tribute band, Lightning & Thunder. The movie is set to premiere in the United States on Christmas Day, December 25.

On-Set Chemistry Feels Real

The duo jokingly admitted that their chemistry felt authentic. Jackman, 57, told Page Six at the 2025 Gotham Awards, We only filmed for 36 days, but it really felt like wed been married for much longer. Hudson, 46, agreed with a laugh, adding, Yes, it felt like we were married for a very long time!

Hudson praised the positive environment on set, explaining that it was effortless and enjoyable. The work felt fun. She highlighted the trust and safety shared during filming, emphasizing that Jackman helped create a collaborative and supportive atmosphere.

Admiration for the Real-Life Inspiration

Hudson expressed admiration for the real-life figures whose story the film portrays, noting she hadnt realized the vastness of Neil Diamonds catalogue prior to filming. Jackman also spoke highly of Mike Sardina, describing him as one of the all-time greats and an incredible songwriter. He added, Even without performing, hed be iconic. But hes also an extraordinary performer, which is rare.

The Logan star hopes the film will spark a renewed appreciation for Diamonds music among audiences.
