Hulk Hogan's widow refutes Ric Flair's allegations that WWE legend died from 'street drugs'

Sky Hogan, widow of wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, has strongly refuted Ric Flairs recent statement suggesting her husbands death was linked to street drugs. Flair, 76, a longtime friend of Hogan, made the claim during an appearance on the DOUBL3 COVERAGE podcast, asserting that Hogan sought street drugs to cope with pain. Sky Hogan, who married the WWE icon in 2023, dismissed the allegation as untrue.

That didnt happen at all, she told TMZ, emphasizing that her late husbands passing was not related to drug use. Hogan passed away in July at age 71, with the official cause of death identified as an acute myocardial infarction, commonly known as a heart attack. Prior to his death, Hogan had a history of atrial fibrillation, a heart rhythm disorder, and chronic lymphocytic leukemia, a cancer affecting white blood cells.

During his podcast, Flair stated that Hogan had spoken to him the day before he died and claimed, I shouldnt say this, but what killed him was street drugs. The doctor wouldnt prescribe anymore he was in so much pain. Then he had a neck surgery and got infected. So back in the hospital. Imagine 10 back surgeries, two knees, two hips, all this. And then when the doctor would not prescribe anymore pain medicine, they just couldnt do it in all due conscience. So they went and got street drugs.

Sky Hogan countered these statements, asserting that Flair had not spoken to her husband shortly before his death and confirmed that Hogan was under continuous medical supervision at Morton Plant Hospital in Florida. She added that any changes to his medication were only related to his neck surgery to prevent complications affecting his lungs.

Hogan underwent a neck fusion procedure months before his death to address ongoing back problems. Despite circulating rumors, his representatives confirmed at the time that the surgery was successful and there was no cause for concern. Over the decade preceding his death, Hogan revealed he had undergone 25 surgeries, including multiple back operations and joint replacements, which he openly discussed on his Impaulsive podcast.

Hogan, who rose to prominence in the 1980s, became an eight-time WrestleMania headliner and six-time World Wrestling Entertainment champion. While professional wrestling outcomes are scripted, the physical impact from repeated slams, strikes, and chair shots left a significant toll on his body.
