'I've been to hundreds of Cliff's concerts'

Being a fan goes beyond just a pastime for me, says one devoted follower. Sir Cliff Richard has launched his newest tour, taking the stage at Birminghams Symphony Hall on Tuesday evening.

Among the attendees for the Can't Stop Me Now Tour is Lottie Lindley from the Cliff Richard Fan Club of Birmingham, who has watched the singer perform hundreds of times. At 62, with her favourite track being Saviour's Day, she will attend the concert with 11 friends, all of whom have shared their fandom for more than 35 years.

We all connected through our love for Cliff, she explains. We call ourselves the Cliffettes. Some members recently traveled to Australia to attend all eight shows of his tour there.

Lottie first experienced Sir Cliff live during his I'm Nearly Famous Tour in 1976, at the age of 13. Ive attended nearly every tour hes done, except for one, she told BBC Radio WM. Over time, as her resources grew, she made it a point to go to as many concerts as possible. Though unsure of the exact total, she estimates her attendance exceeds 200 shows, including trips across Europe to follow him.

No matter the location, my husband always says, just go, babe, she added.

Since relocating to Lincolnshire from West Heath, Birmingham, Lottie has kept tickets and programmes from every concert. Back in 1973, a ticket at the Birmingham Odeon was 2.50 now its over 100, she notes.

The Can't Stop Me Now tour has already visited Australia and New Zealand and is now performing across the UK. Lottie became captivated by Sir Cliff when watching his television show Its Cliff Richard, which aired from 1970-1974. And from there, it all began, she said. Hes incredible on stage and genuinely cares about his fans. But its also about the friendships we have such a laugh and an amazing time together.

She has met Sir Cliff several times, including in 1990 while queuing for his concert at the NEC, describing him as a true gent. Hes genuinely kind, appreciative of his fans, and very polite, she added.

When asked why he remains active at 85, Lottie replied, He loves performing, touring, and doing concerts. He said he wont retire because he doesnt want to have a comeback tour.
