Jonas Brothers Discuss Intrusive Interest in Their Sex Lives During Teenage Years

The Jonas Brothers have spoken out about the unusual attention they received as teenagers, particularly the constant speculation regarding their sexual lives. In an interview with Variety, ahead of a Hollywood handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre, the band reflected on their early years as Disney stars and tabloid sensations.

During that period, the group was recognized for wearing purity rings and publicly committing to abstinence before marriage, even as media outlets and paparazzi relentlessly reported on their dating activities.

There was an enormous focus on our sexual life as teenagers, which felt strange, Joe Jonas admitted. Nick Jonas described the scrutiny as very inappropriate and expressed doubt that young stars today face similar intrusion. He added that he hoped the attention they endured contributed to a shift in how teenage celebrities are treated.

If we played even a small role in discouraging people from fixating on teenagers private lives, then going through all of that was worth it, Nick said. It really was a bizarre period.

Nick also reflected on the pressure of fame, recalling how the band embraced their responsibilities as role models while still young. He shared advice he would give his younger self: Dont try to carry the world on your shoulders. Take the time to experience being a kid and growing up.

This year has been particularly active for the Jonas Brothers. They released their latest album, Greetings From Your Hometown, in August and spent months touring to support it and celebrate the bands 20th anniversary. The tour continues with several upcoming shows, culminating in a New Years Eve performance in Miami, which will be streamed live on Samsung TV Plus.
