Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman's Year-Long Mutual Admiration Demonstrates Friendship Goals (Exclusive)

Kate Hudson and Hugh Jackman have spent the past year expressing genuine admiration for each other following the completion of their work on Song Sung Blue. Their supportive friendship has been on display repeatedly, most recently at the Gotham Awards on December 1, 2025.

Earlier this week, Hudson praised Jackman for his remarkable ability to connect with people, a talent she described as his true superpower. Meanwhile, Jackman confidently predicted that Hudson will soon earn her first Academy Award.

Their public appreciation began in December 2024, when filming on Song Sung Bluein which they portray members of a Neil Diamond tribute bandwrapped up. Hudson shared behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, calling Jackman what a work hubby, while Jackman responded with, You are one of one.

One year later, their admiration remains strong. During a joint interview at the 2025 Gotham Awards, Hudson highlighted Jackmans ability to connect with everyone around him. His superpower is to connect, whether its onstage, on set, or with anyone, she said. I learned that one of the greatest gifts you can give people is the desire to truly connect, and he gives that to everyone.

Jackman returned the compliment, reflecting on how working with Hudson had impacted him. Ive done almost 50 films, but working with Kate is something special. She balances preparation with instinct perfectlyno one does it better, he said. Being with her made me a better actor.

That same evening, while accepting the Musical Tribute award, Jackman publicly declared Hudsons performance as Academy Award-worthy. Kate Hudson is not only one of the great stars of our business, she is a consummate actor. I believe this time she is going to get an Oscar, he told the audience.

The following day, Jackman posted a video on Instagram commending Hudsons method acting, describing it as so good. Earlier in April, Hudson had once again praised her work husband, sharing her enjoyment of making Song Sung Blue and working alongside Jackman while performing Neil Diamonds iconic songs.

Song Sung Blue is set to hit theaters on December 25, 2025.
