Keke Palmer's Series "The 'Burbs" to Premiere on Peacock with Spooky First Teaser Trailer

Peacock has announced the launch date for its upcoming series adaptation of The Burbs, featuring Keke Palmer in a leading role, and released the initial teaser trailer. The mystery-comedy series, inspired by the 1989 cult film, will premiere all eight episodes on February 8.

The storyline centers on a young couple, portrayed by Palmer and Jack Whitehall, who have reluctantly moved into the husbands childhood neighborhood. Their lives are turned upside down when a new neighbor arrives, revealing hidden secrets of the cul-de-sac and introducing dangerous threats that disrupt the peace of their seemingly quiet suburb.

The cast also includes Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar.

Celeste Hughey serves as the series creator, writer, and executive producer, with Rachel Shukert also contributing as writer and executive producer. In addition to starring, Palmer is an executive producer. The production team includes Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Aimee Carlson via Fuzzy Door, along with Brian Grazer, Kristen Zolner, and Natalie Berkus for Imagine Entertainment, which produced the original film. Dana Olsen, who wrote the original movie, is co-executive producing, and Nzingha Stewart is directing and executive producing. The studio behind the series is UCP.

The original 1989 film featured Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Bruce Dern, Rick Ducommun, and Corey Feldman, following suburban residents who suspect their new neighbors of sinister rituals. Produced by Universal Pictures, the movie earned over $49 million against an $18 million budget and has since become a cult classic.
