Laufey dances in a claymation music video set in a winter wonderland for 'Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town'

As Christmas approaches, the festive spirit is in full swing, and Laufey is embracing it with delight. On December 4, the Grammy-winning jazz-pop singer unveiled a charming claymation video for her rendition of Santa Claus Is Comin to Town.

The project, produced by Scale Model Studios under the guidance of creative director Junia Lin and animation director Jennifer Kidd, follows Laufey and her companion, Mei Mei the Bunny, as they prepare their holiday wish lists for Santa Claus.

The video begins with Laufey exclaiming a cheerful ho ho ho! at the piano. It then takes viewers through whimsical scenes: the duo checking a naughty, nice & extra nice list, dancing beside a crackling fireplace, using Christmas tree tinsel as magical levitation, making snow angels, and ice skating outdoors. By the end, they finally catch a glimpse of Santa Claus himself.

Santa Claus Is Comin to Town is part of Laufeys ongoing A Very Laufey Holiday EP, originally launched in 2022. The holiday collection now features seven tracks and has achieved notable success, reaching No. 3 on the Independent Albums chart and No. 5 on Jazz Albums.

Her latest cover was added to the EP on November 5, just days before earning her second Grammy nomination. Laufey, who has previously won in this category, will compete in the Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album category at the 2026 Grammys for A Matter of Time.
