Leonardo DiCaprio recently discussed his new project, One Battle After Another, and shared his excitement about finally working with director Paul Thomas Anderson. He also opened up about their past near-collaboration and addressed the long-debated question of whether he regrets selecting Titanic over Andersons Boogie Nights.

DiCaprio on Past Decisions

During a conversation with Deadline, DiCaprio clarified previous comments about missing out on Boogie Nights. While he had once referred to not doing the film as a major regret, he explained that his response was framed more as a reflection on his admiration for Anderson rather than a personal disappointment. The question was, What do you regret most? and my answer was more about acknowledging Pauls work and influence, he said.

He emphasized that Boogie Nights served as a pivotal moment for emerging talent, adding, It wasnt solely about that movieit was about the desire to collaborate with Paul.

Choosing Titanic

When asked specifically about choosing Titanic, DiCaprio expressed no regrets. Looking back, I deeply appreciate being part of that film. It allowed me to take control of my own path in the industry, he explained. He noted that while he would have loved to participate in both projects, it simply wasnt possible at the time.

Reuniting with Paul Thomas Anderson

Reflecting on his work with Anderson on One Battle After Another, DiCaprio described it as a meaningful reunion. After all these years, reconnecting and finally collaborating with Paul on this project is incredible, he said, highlighting the full-circle nature of their partnership.
