Lizzo Responds to Trolls Criticizing Her Weight

Lizzo is confronting online negativity head-on. The singer recently addressed a viral fat joke made about her on social media, emphasizing that she refuses to tolerate such behavior and encouraging others who face similar attacks to stand strong as well.

Throughout her career, Lizzo has spoken openly about experiencing body shaming due to her size. In 2020, she revealed that she had stepped away from Twitter because of the constant harassment she was receiving online.

Lizzo Challenges Social Media Trolls

On Thursday, Lizzo voiced her frustration over internet trolling. Although the attention was negative, she aimed to turn the experience into an empowering message. On Instagram, she wrote: Your body will never be good enough for them because its not FOR them. She added that criticism comes whether someone is big or small, highlighting the pervasive nature of body shaming.

The singer-songwriter has also been candid about her mental health struggles. In a recent Substack post, she revealed feeling deeply suicidal in 2023, a period linked to a lawsuit filed by three former backup dancers. Over time, Lizzo says she emerged from this difficult period and embarked on a weight-loss journey, ultimately reducing her body fat by 16 percent.

In February 2024, a judge denied Lizzos motion to dismiss the lawsuit entirely, though some claims were dropped, including a dancers accusation that Lizzo had fat-shamed them.

Earlier this year, in June, Lizzo unveiled the cover art and tracklist for her third mixtape, My Face Hurts from Smiling, continuing to share her creative projects with fans despite ongoing public scrutiny.
