Very few performers can claim a career that began in early childhood and still be under forty years old. Mae Whitman is one of those rare cases. Looking back on her early acting years, she jokes about how surreal it feels to have shared the screen with some of Hollywoods biggest names. She appeared as the daughter of characters played by George Clooney, Meg Ryan, and Bill Pullman in memorable films throughout the 1990s experiences that left lasting impressions and personal mementos she still treasures.
Since then, Whitman has built an extensive rsum, appearing in both popular movies and well-known television series. Today, she balances her career with motherhood, raising her young son, Miles.
In her newest project, Twelve Dates Til Christmas, which premieres on December 5, Whitman traveled to the United Kingdom with her four-month-old baby to take on the role of Kate, a textile designer who feels stuck in a creative and emotional rut. Her friends sign her up for an unconventional holiday matchmaking challenge known as The 12 Dates of Christmas. What follows is a string of elaborate, unexpected, and sometimes magical romantic encounters.
Whitman describes the dates as wildly entertaining and occasionally chaotic. In one memorable moment, her character is left alone when her date never arrives, forcing her to improvise an evening for herself with only breadsticks and champagne for company. The scene gave her the freedom to lean into humor and spontaneity, making it one of her favorite sequences to film.
She is joined in the series by an accomplished cast, including Jane Seymour, Mary McDonnell, Julian Morris, Toby Sandeman, Nathaniel Parker, and Lucy Eaton. According to Whitman, the experience of working with such a talented group and an exceptional production crew was unforgettable, and she left the project having formed meaningful new friendships.
Twelve Dates Til Christmas promises viewers a warm, festive escape filled with romance, charm, and plenty of holiday spirit.
