A man has been formally charged after allegedly assaulting Lee Hollywood, the brother of Great British Bake Off judge Paul Hollywood. Lee, who also works as a baker, was reportedly struck and then kicked in the face and back while walking his dog at Links View playing fields in Leasowe, Wirral, on August 8.

Following the incident, Lee Hollywood was taken to hospital for treatment. Paul Hollywood appealed on social media for witnesses or anyone with information to contact the police.

Merseyside Police have charged 33-year-old Samuel Copley, from Kingham Close in Leasowe, with assault. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on February 11.
