  3. Margot Robbie's "Very Different Headspace" During Filming of "Wuthering Heights" 3 Months After Giving Birth

Margot Robbie has shared her experience of working on the new adaptation of Wuthering Heights just three months after the birth of her son. The Australian actress revealed that she was navigating a completely different headspace while filming so soon postpartum.

Speaking with British Vogue, Robbie, 35, explained that her approach to the project was unlike her usual preparation. I was three months postpartum when filming began. My routine was all over the place, she said. She recalled expressing concern to writer-director Emerald Fennell, asking, What if Im not ready enough? Fennell reassured her: I dont want you to prepare. I just need you to be present. Robbie described this guidance as a calming way to manage her anxiety, emphasizing the importance of connecting with her body rather than overthinking.

The Barbie star welcomed her first child with husband Tom Ackerley on October 17, 2024. Sources confirmed that the couple has been enjoying quiet family life in Los Angeles while adjusting to parenthood.

Although she rarely discusses her son publicly, Robbie told Entertainment Tonight in August 2025 that becoming a parent has been the best. She explained, You try to explain it to someone who has kidsthey already understand. And if they dont, its probably not that interesting to them.

The 2026 Wuthering Heights cast also includes Jacob Elordi, Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, Shazad Latif, Martin Clunes, and Ewan Mitchell. The story follows the tragic love between Heathcliff and Catherine Earnshaw, exploring themes of obsession, jealousy, and social divisions that echo across generations.

Robbie discussed with Vogue how she, Fennell, and Elordi approached the romantic aspects of the story. They focused on subtle, emotionally charged moments rather than explicit gestures, creating a connection that felt authentic. One memorable scene involved Elordis Heathcliff lifting Catherine (Robbie) with one arm while shielding her from the rain with the other, an intimate detail that left a strong impression on her.

Robbie noted that the film emphasizes the perspective of women in their 30s, offering a fresh take on a classic period romance. Wuthering Heights is scheduled for release on February 13, 2026.

Commentary: Navigating Parenthood and Professionalism in a Postpartum World

Margot Robbie’s recent comments about her experience filming the new adaptation of *Wuthering Heights* offer a rare and insightful glimpse into the life of a new mother in the midst of a high-profile career. At just three months postpartum, Robbie found herself balancing the physical and emotional challenges of new motherhood with the demanding nature of film production. Her honesty about the unpredictable nature of her routine during that time resonates with many, particularly those who have experienced the complexities of adjusting to life after childbirth.

The candid exchange with director Emerald Fennell, where Robbie expressed her concerns about being "ready enough," highlights the pressure many working mothers face. However, Fennell’s response — "I just need you to be present" — served not only as a professional approach but also as an acknowledgment of the physical and mental space that new mothers need in their recovery. This advice not only helped ease Robbie's anxieties but also contributed to an authentic performance that reflected the rawness and vulnerability she was experiencing personally.

Moreover, Robbie’s reflection on her approach to the film, especially with the subtle, emotionally charged romantic moments with co-star Jacob Elordi, signals a thoughtful and modern take on a classic story. By focusing on genuine connections rather than dramatic gestures, the film promises to offer a fresh perspective on the tragic love story of Heathcliff and Catherine. With a narrative that highlights the emotional depth of the characters, *Wuthering Heights* may very well stand out as a timely reimagining, particularly in its approach to gender and relationships.

As the release date of February 13, 2026 approaches, Robbie’s personal and professional journey will undoubtedly continue to captivate audiences. Her ability to stay grounded and present in such a pivotal moment in both her career and motherhood speaks to her resilience and commitment. As *Wuthering Heights* awaits its unveiling, it’s clear that Robbie's real-life experience as a mother has added a layer of authenticity to her portrayal of Catherine, enhancing the emotional impact of the film.
