Matt Reeves defends Paul Dano against Quentin Tarantino's criticism of 'The Batman' actor as 'weak sauce'

Director Matt Reeves, known for The Batman, spoke out in support of Paul Dano, who played the Riddler in his 2022 superhero film, after Quentin Tarantino described the actor as "weak sauce" and "uninteresting."

"Paul Dano is an extraordinary actor and a remarkable individual," Reeves stated in a post on X on Thursday.

Tarantino recently expressed his unfiltered thoughts on Danos performance in the 2007 film There Will Be Blood during an appearance on The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast. While ranking his top 20 films of the 21st century, he placed Paul Thomas Andersons movie at number five, but singled out Danos acting as a flaw.

"There Will Be Blood could easily be a top one or two film if it didnt have a major flaw," Tarantino said. "And that flaw is Paul Dano. Its supposed to be a two-person story, but its clear it isnt. [Dano] is weak sauce. Hes the weak one. Austin Butler would have excelled in that role. Hes just a weak, unengaging performer."

Reeves response highlights his admiration for Danos talent and character, emphasizing the directors support despite Tarantinos harsh critique.
