Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang to collaborate on writing and starring in new comedy film for Searchlight

Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang, best friends and co-hosts of the podcast Las Culturistas, are joining forces for a new comedy film under Searchlight Pictures. Both Rogers and Yang will serve as writers and lead actors in the untitled project, which draws inspiration from an episode of the Search Engine podcast.

The episode, titled "Why Didn't Chris and Dan Get into Berghain?," follows the story of two Americans who travel internationally in an attempt to gain entry to Berghain, one of the world's most exclusive nightclubs.

Rogers and Yang have previously collaborated on the creation of the Las Culturistas Culture Awards, which aired on Bravo in 2025 and has been renewed for 2026. The show is also accessible for streaming on Peacock. Additionally, the duo starred together in the Searchlight Pictures film Fire Island.

Yang, a five-time Emmy nominee, is recognized for his work on Saturday Night Live and for his role as Pfannee in Wicked and Wicked: For Good. Rogers has appeared in the Netflix dark comedy No Good Deed and the Showtime series I Love That for You. He also released the holiday-themed album Have You Heard of Christmas? in 2023 and is currently on the Christmas in December tour.
