  3. Meghan McCain Criticizes Tucker Carlson for Repeatedly Calling Her 'Fat' on His Podcast: 'Unchristian Behavior'

Meghan McCain publicly condemned Tucker Carlson after learning that her weight was discussed on his podcast, calling the remarks not Christian behavior.

On Thursday, McCain took to X to share that she had been informed about Milo Yiannopoulos recent appearance on The Tucker Carlson Show, during which she was repeatedly referred to as fat.

Responding, she stated: Yes, I am very fat, Im nearly nine months pregnant with my third child. I am also very happy. No matter how often Tucker mentions being a Christian, this kind of discussion on a major podcast is not Christian behavior.

She added: This type of cruelty toward women, combined with hypocrisy, is a clear example of why my generation of women voters often distrust the right.

McCain encouraged her followers not to feel sorry for her, noting that she has faced comments about her weight since beginning her media career at age 22. Its repetitive, lazy, and tired. I dont profit from such negativity and cant imagine the mindset of anyone who does. It must be a very dark place, she wrote.

The incident follows Yiannopoulos remarks on the show, where he commented on her weight in the context of discussing her late father, John McCain. While he clarified he wasnt implying John McCain was homosexual, he referenced stereotypes associated with the queer community, adding provocative personal comments about Meghan McCain.

As of now, representatives for Carlson have not responded to requests for comment.

Author's Commentary: On Public Shaming and Media Responsibility

The recent comments made about Meghan McCain on "The Tucker Carlson Show" highlight a recurring issue in media discourse: the personal attacks directed at public figures. The focus on McCain's weight, especially while she is nearly nine months pregnant, crosses the line from critique into personal cruelty. Such discussions, framed as entertainment, undermine standards of respectful dialogue.

McCain's response underscores the broader impact of these remarks. She points out the combination of hypocrisy and targeted cruelty toward women, emphasizing how it contributes to generational distrust toward certain political narratives. Her insistence that followers should not pity her reinforces the principle that personal attacks are neither informative nor necessary in public debate.

From a media ethics perspective, the lack of immediate response from Tucker Carlson's representatives leaves the situation unresolved. Public accountability remains crucial, especially when commentary targets private characteristics unrelated to professional actions. This episode serves as a reminder that the responsibility of content creators extends beyond ratings, reflecting on the standards of civility in public discourse.
