Mila Kunis Discloses Being the Head of the HOA for Her Beverly Hills Neighborhood and Handling Noise and Trash Complaints all Day

Hollywood actress Mila Kunis, known for her on-screen performances, has recently taken on a surprising new responsibility: leading her local homeowners association (HOA). In a recent interview, the 42-year-old star of Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery shared the humorous reactions she gets from residents and contractors when they discover who is managing their neighborhood concerns.

Kunis, who resides in a custom-built, eco-friendly farmhouse in Beverly Hills with her husband, actor Ashton Kutcher, and their two children, told the Wall Street Journal that she takes her HOA duties seriously, which mainly involve handling complaints related to noise and waste management.

"Im the head of the homeowners association in our neighborhood. I take the complaints. If you have a complaint about someones trash or noise, you complain to me," Kunis explained.

She noted that her celebrity status rarely surprises her neighbors, as many are accustomed to seeing famous figures in Los Angeles. However, she finds it amusing when contractors respond with laughter upon realizing they are dealing with a Hollywood star while performing routine maintenance or repair work.

"The funnier part is when I have to call someone to look at the road because it is eroding or something, and then they show up and start laughing. Im like, 'I know this is ridiculous, but please, can you give me a quote on this?'" she said.

Typically, HOAs manage residential communities by overseeing maintenance, communal amenities, and infrastructure, while also organizing meetings and coordinating projects. Kunis and Kutcher live in the guard-gated Bella Vista Estates, one of Los Angeles most prestigious neighborhoods. They also own a beachfront property in Carpinteria, California, which is undergoing major renovations to expand its size significantly.

The couples Beverly Hills farmhouse, built on a sprawling 6-acre plot purchased by Kutcher in 2007, was a multiyear project featuring a main house, a two-story guesthouse, and a pavilion. The design was inspired by a single extravagant chandelier, which led them to create a modern farmhouse called KuKu Farms, blending low-key luxury with eco-conscious features such as extensive solar panels, reclaimed wood floors, and expansive glass windows.

Speaking about the home, Kunis said, "This is how this house happened. So we built this house, and it was all designed around this chandelier that we found so obnoxious, that we had in a previous house." Kutcher added, "We wanted the house to look like an old barn, something that had been here for decades, that was then converted into a house. But it also had to feel modern and relevant."

In Carpinteria, their beachfront home, purchased in 2017, is being extensively remodeled. Plans filed in March 2024 include demolishing an existing cottage, adding a two-story extension, building a pool and spa, and improving landscaping and outdoor amenities. The renovations will ultimately merge two plots into a single property totaling 4,505 square feet of living space.

The renovations may also address damage caused by severe flooding in the area between December 2022 and March 2023, which transformed portions of their land into a swampy landscape. Despite the challenges, the project reflects the couples dedication to creating thoughtful, sustainable, and luxurious living spaces.
