Miley Cyrus Discusses Ending Tours, Britney Spears & Beyoncé's Inspiring Work Ethic

During a recent conversation with Billboard, Miley Cyrus shared updates about her career, including her work with Beyonc and Britney Spears, as well as her decision to step back from large-scale tours for the foreseeable future. The discussion took place during a press event for Avatar: Fire and Ash, for which Cyrus wrote the original song Dream as One.

Cyrus, who hasnt toured extensively since 2014s Bangerz Tour, explained that keeping her performances smaller helps protect her mental health and sobriety. My favorite thing to do is perform in hotel lobbies because then I can just go up to my room afterward, she told Billboard. She noted that large venues often lack the intimacy she values, with backstage areas feeling detached from the audience experience.

She added, I have to feel a heart-on-fire passion for anything I do, and I dont love performing on a massive scale with thousands of people. You lose that one-on-one connection. In recent years, Cyrus has focused on more intimate performances, such as her May show at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles and her Spotify Billions Club concert in Paris.

A notable exception to her small-scale approach was when she joined Beyonc on stage during a Cowboy Carter Tour stop to perform their duet II Most Wanted. If it isnt in a hotel lobby, it has to be in Paris with Bey, Cyrus joked, praising Beyonc as the epitome of professionalism and kindness. She also shared her admiration for Beyoncs work ethic, saying, Ive never seen her not enjoy putting a show together. It actually gives me chills.

While Cyrus has no current plans to tour, she emphasized her excitement for other projects, including her involvement with the Avatar franchise and her recent engagement to Maxx Morando. She also reflected on her favorite collaborations, naming Beyonc as her top choice and calling her experience perfect. Regarding her SMS (Bangerz) collaboration with Britney Spears, Cyrus said, If were torn between Britney and Beyonc, were doing pretty good.

When asked to imagine updating her 2009 hit Party in the U.S.A. with modern artists, Cyrus insisted she couldnt replace Spears. Im not taking Britney out, she affirmed, highlighting the lasting significance of their collaboration.
