German content creator and model Joel Vieten recently captured the hearts of social media users when a group of New Yorkers spontaneously joined his outfit-of-the-day (OOTD) video. The unplanned interaction drew widespread praise, with many viewers commenting that it perfectly captured the spirit of New York City.

In a video shared on TikTok on November 10, Vieten can be seen standing at a crosswalk, showcasing his ensemble featuring a sweater, shirt and tie, sports coat, and jeans. As he moves backward from the camera, lip-syncing to Kanye West's "All Fall Down," two men unexpectedly enter the frame, joining him in the moment. Moments later, a third passerby in a gray coat, holding a phone to his ear, also interacts with the video, mouthing along with the lyrics.

"Only in NYC do people randomly join your videos like this," Vieten wrote in the post's caption. The clip quickly went viral, with viewers praising the cheerful, spontaneous energy. Comments included sentiments like, "This made my entire day," and "This is what New York is really about."

Vieten explained that the encounter was entirely unplanned, aside from his friend, the man in the gray coat, who had arrived just as Vieten was attempting the video for the third time. "The two strangers joined in with positive energy, and then my friend decided to join too. Nothing was scripted," Vieten said.

Due to the clip's popularity, Vieten later filmed a follow-up video with his friend, this time planned, wearing the same outfits and recreating the fun interaction.

Before pursuing his own content creation, Vieten worked as a real estate agent and a photographer for other creators. He shifted focus to personal content following the passing of his father three years ago. "I wanted to dedicate myself to what I truly love, creating with friends and sharing my vision," he shared. He now aims to explore creative direction and acting, posting short films on Instagram.

Community and inclusivity are central to Vieten's work. Growing up in a multicultural environment, he emphasizes diversity in his content, welcoming spontaneous interactions and fostering a positive atmosphere online. "I aim to show the variety of life and traditions I grew up with," he said.
